Halloween is coming: have you decided to celebrate witch night at home with friends? Then it is important to create the right atmosphere, decorating the theme table, ready to receive your guests. Let’s discover many ideas for the Halloween table, and tips for decorating it in the right way, with DIY themed creations, for a truly scary dinner. Just have a little patience and lots of imagination to amaze your friends and make your Halloween table monstrous.
Tablecloth and napkins: to customize according to the theme
For the Halloween table you can opt for the black and orange combination, a perfect combination for this monstrous night: we can choose an orange tablecloth and a black table runner, or cover the tablecloth with a black veil. The napkins should be in contrast, then orange, if placed on a black background, or vice versa: choose it of large size and place it in a diamond shape, at the center of each seat at the table. If you want to make napkin rings, you will only need orange and black or white and orange cardboard to give a little contrast, on which you can also write the guest’s name.
If instead you want to make a Halloween horror table then choose red and white , with a themed tablecloth or making blood stains with a special dye, on an old white tablecloth. Then customize the tablecloth and napkins based on the theme of the evening.
White plates and mummy glasses or goblets
Once you’ve chosen the tablecloth it’s time to think about dishes and glasses. When it comes to the dishes , they will be very simple and white : place the plate in the center of the rhombus napkin, add the antipasto plate above. Regarding the glasses you can opt for stemmed glasses , also of different colors, which will be indicated for each drink. Alternatively you can make mummy glasses: you will only need napkins or white and resistant toilet paper, without decorations. Roll it up around tall, narrow glasses and apply one layer to another of red circles, which will be the eyes of the mummy. Therefore also adapt the choice of glasses to the theme, so as to make your table unique.
Simple and scary placeholders
For the placeholders there are many ideas, simple to implement and fearful. You can prepare a bloody placeholder with a rectangular white card: fold it in half and drop a drop of tomato puree on the card, next to the guest’s name. Allow the pomdoro to dry thoroughly, before placing the placeholder, so as to make the blood effect more realistic. Another idea with black or orange cardboard is to create bats on which to write the name of each guest, or to use mini skulls or the hand of a skeleton that gives the guest’s name. You can also use small decorative pumpkins: cut the tip about two centimeters and put a white candle in the middle, the birthday ones will be fine too, to be inserted in the pulp. Make one for each guest, to place on the plate next to the glass: under each pumpkin, put a black cardboard cut round, so the wax will not ruin your tablecloth.
Centerpiece to create a terrifying atmosphere
The pumpkin would be the most themed centerpiece, not just the classic Jack O ‘Lantern: in this case you will have to cut the top cap, empty it and carve eyes, nose and mouth, giving your pumpkin the classic terrifying look. Insert a candle or a light inside, so that the projections of the cuts will create shadows on the walls. Alternatively you can put the whole pumpkin in a centerpiece, laying it on yellowed leaves, creating a typically autumnal atmosphere. You can then make a composition with autumnal fruit and vegetables : small pumpkins, pomegranates and pears with dark skin. Place them on an oval plate, placing brown and orange candles of different heights in the center. If you want to decorate the Halloween table withflowers , choose them orange or dark , depending on the theme chosen: if you want to organize an evening in the Addams Family style, then you can make a centerpiece with a black vase filled with only rose stems.
Ceiling decors to complete the atmosphere
To complete the atmosphere of your dinner, you can make Halloween decorations for the home , to make it more spooky. Create hanging cobwebs , which will touch the heads of your guests, or use old fishnet stockings, cut them and open them as much as possible and hold them on the wall with bits of adhesive tape. You can also make spiders with black cardboard. Give shape to your spider mite, make a little hole in the center and place it with a thread on the cobwebs. Then place white candles in different parts of the house or create decorative courgettesto put on the shelves, with a candle inside. The faint light will help create a dark atmosphere throughout the evening.
